Blind Iowans can't drive but are granted permits to carry guns in public: reports - NY Daily News

Quote:
Is arming the blind really a good idea?

Visually impaired people in Iowa are being granted permission to carry loaded firearms in public.

They may not be able to read the application form needed to acquire a permit — but that apparently isn't stopping them from picking up pistols to aim and fire.

A legal loophole came to light earlier this month after the Des Moines Register reported on a trio of blind residents who have been granted permission since Jan. 1.

It's sparked a fierce debate on the issue, with some local sheriffs granting permission and others denying it.

Some are now calling for the law to be changed so the legally blind are stopped from being able to shoot pistols and guns.

"If you see nothing but a blurry mass in front of you, then I would say you probably shouldn't be shooting something," Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere told the Register.

But others believe that the blind can be trained in how to use firearms and that to stop them from doing so would be discriminatory.

"If sheriffs spent more time trying to keep guns out of criminals' hands and not people with disabilities, their time would be more productive," said Counters Cedar County Sheriff Warren Wethington, whose daughter is legally blind.

Because there is no proof? I believe in it, but it makes sense to me that other people don't believe in it. It's up for debate. But it doesn't really matter - it's happening.

The evidence availabile isn't proof. Regardless, there is strong consensus among climatolgists that it is caused by humans.

honestly I'm very confused as to what you would consider proof. is the burning of fossil fuels leading to exorborant amounts of greenhouse gasses being released which in turn are causing a rise in the average temperature of the globe and consequently the melting of ice formations and glaciers across both poles and the rising of sea water not conclusive?

since the industrial revolution, when humanity began burning fossil fuels, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have been on the rise. as well, the average temperature has also been steadily but slowly (we're talking the global temperature here, hard to increase quickly) increasing. As well, since that time, ice formations and glaciers have been melting, and as well the seal level has been rising.

are these all connected or are merely coincidences?

from the hollywood stars silent article -

Quote:
Rapper-songwriter Azealia Banks also broke ranks, and silence, on Twitter, saying that “America should mind it’s (sic) business this time.” But she added later, if another world war is inevitable, “can’t we just wait until AFTER I drop my album in January?”

Why Ted Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham in the U.S. Senate - World - CBC News

so ted cruz reads green eggs and ham on the senate floor as part of his quasi-filibuster hoping to bankrupt america in order to kill obamacare, and in it says:

Quote:
"When Americans tried it, they discovered they did not like green eggs and ham and they did not like Obamacare either," Cruz said while reading from the famous Dr. Seuss tale. "They did not like Obamacare in a box, with a fox, in a house or with a mouse. It is not working."
i love this shit. cruz is stepping right in with the other nuts in that wing of the party, completely missing the point of a children's story. hey ted: at the end of the book, once he actually tries it instead of just having a knee-jerk reaction, he likes green eggs and ham. and he will eat them in a box, with a fox, in a house, with a mouse. that's the whole point, you total moron...
