That story from yesterday, about birds going extinct, is just devastating.

while true, I think there are far more pressing concerns. for example the genocide and corruption evident in a large majority of the world. brazil protests are a classic example of this

Thinking only of myself, and my goal to live to 135 years old, 1/8th of all bird species going instinct due to unsustainable agriculture and climate change concerns me far more than the socio-economic disparity in third world countries.

Yep - this world belongs to the likes of the birds. They outnumber us by a huge amount. If the lives of the birds and the bees cannot be sustained here, it is a very bad sign for us.

There are 200-400 billion birds on earth. Take an eighth out of that and it's pretty unsettling to consider.

hehe. funny. because the main reason for a massively booming population and anthropogenic climate change is because of poverty. fix the issues from the source

you're comparing apples and oranges. take the number of mammals, and compare it to the number of birds, and then it's a good point you make

Brazil is a place where disparity has been narrowed extensively. The protests are about middle class concerns.

And though poverty and overpopulation are linked, as are overpopulation and climate change, the greatest effect on the climate comes from carbon being pumped into the atmosphere, something which the poor cannot be accredited with doing to a great extent.

And if 25-50 billion mammals, fish or frogs looked to be wiped out, it would be devastating to consider as well.
