“Remember, there was no Palestine as a state – [it was] part of the Ottoman Empire. I think we have an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs and historically part of the Arab community and they had the chance to go many places,” Mr. Gingrich said according to a video excerpt posted online.
nice newt. complete and total meaninglessness. so what are americans? and given how little difference there is, genetically, between any humans, aren't we all pretty much invented people?

this gop race is littered with lunatics.

No better way there is for me to celebrate my 400th post on RF here, than by giving some more goodies of my favourite American politician of all-time, Dr. Ron Paul!

They had the Iowa thing, and they say Ron came in 3rd even though everywhere in the States outside of the mainstream media, all ppl can talk about is Ron, when talkin about this election year.

CPL Jesse Thornsen is campaigning for Ron. And the dude who posted this video has much food for thought in his description of this video, so click on it n check it out.

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once its realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Ron Paul.

"Ideas are very important to the shaping of society. In fact, they are more powerful than bombings or armies or guns. And this is because ideas are capable of spreading without limit. They are behind all the choices we make. They can transform the world in a way that governments and armies cannot. Fighting for liberty with ideas makes more sense to me than fighitng with guns or politics or political power. With ideas, we can make real changes that lasts." - Ron Paul.

i find it hilarious how quickly mr ron paul is passed off as an 'also-ran' regardless of how many votes he gets or what place he comes in the contest. it's like the media just skips him because it's assumed that he never has a chance. this doesn't reflect my personal opinion of whether or not he could be a good leader of any party, just the reality that mainstream america has pretty much totally written him off, irrespective of what he says in any given campaign. jon stewart did a great bit on this last night, showing the pundits immediately talking about romney and then jumping right to huntsman and what percentage of votes he might have garnered had paul not been running. i can't remember ever seeing anything like it before, not even with ross perot.

that video is a bit old (end of august). it's become even more stark now that bachman, cain and perry (essentially) are out of the race. gingrich is rapidly deflating, santorum is a joke (multiple jokes?), and huntsman is a distant 3rd. it's become romney vs a ghost.

and all of this is great from my perspective because the last thing the us needs is more conservatism.

Meh, last thing US needs is more government. I like Ron Paul, he doesn't sound like a politician.

I think the US needs a 3rd party.

i think the term 'more government' has become meaningless. and i'm not sure who, if anyone, is proposing more government as an ideal at this stage anyways.

i also think that most stable modern democracies needs lots more than 3 parties. 3 creates vote splitting from the two most ideologically similar and often hands victories to the minority political vision because the majority one gets split. many parties (4+, i would argue) compels minority governments to work across ideological lines to get things done, and can thereby reduce polarization. canada and the us are both desperate for this.

The US invests 1.8% of the GDP on infrastructure, education, and research and development. Those would seem to be the very sorts of things that a government should exist for in a just society looking to advance with greater opportunities for all. They are the kinds of investments that helped ake America great. And now that kind of good governance has been whittled down to a mealy 1.8%. That seems a little obscene, and insane, although it has no bearing on CEOs that make 600 times the average salary and operate internationally. And those people would make even more under the republicans, while the 1.8% investment would be drastically cut back.

If the resource tunnel gets approved jobs will be created and the economy will be spiked. Of course Obama has delayed his say in wheather the tunnel should be approved or not. Hell Canada don't care if USA don't want our resources we shall give it to the Chinese.
