I will say that much of the leadership behind many protests are worthy of the vitriol that gets thrown their way. But with a lot of these G-20 protests over the years, it's been about the grassroots levels of organizing.

I am almost ready to join the protestors because of that ridiculous 1 billion dollar price tag.

Security information can be found here:

Integrated Security Unit unveils Traffic/Perimeter Plans for G20 Summit

The hospital told us that the TTC will be running as scheduled but the PATH will be closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will re-open on Monday. As far as we have been told, areas north of King St. should be OK.

A friend of mine (who's a teacher) just told me that some of her students are going to be working as extra security for the G20.

They'll be working for 2 weeks and making $3000 in that time. : |

If I had known I'd have taken a leave for a month and done that. Jeez.

For the interest of digressing....tell me something.

How does destroying peoples private property advance any cause? Regardless of good intentions.

it doesn't. but it only takes a couple of douchebags destroying things to have hundreds or even thousands of well-intentioned people tarred and feathered as hoodlums.

I am just grateful to have been given the right to protest, and I will demonstrate my gratitude and unwavering obedience by not protesting.

anyone know how travel at union station is going to work?

I'm trying to look it up online, but the TTC and Go train websites aren't saying much.

Like say you want to take a train out of town... will it actually be easy to walk into Union station and get on a train?

Don't leave Toronto much?

I'm in Oakville and I took the GO into Union every morning last summer for work, never had any trouble. Ditto for the way back. It's busy, a lot of the time I had to sprint off the train to beat the foot traffic, but it's a lot more chill than sitting on the highway for an hour every day.

just as an example if you're going to oakville you'd be taking lakeshore west, which usually boards on either platform 2 or 3.

My father-in-law hasn't had any problems with the GO so far and he takes the train in from Mississauga everyday. I've been TTC-ing to and from the hospital and it's been normal so far. Same with my husband.

LOL! Slight misunderstanding of my question (or maybe I didn't make it clear) I take the Go train pretty frequently so i know all about it.

I was asking whether or not anyone here knows more about how Union station is going to operate during the Summit. I am hearing things about how GO trains are going to run like crap with lots of delays and what not. also apparently the police will be doing ID checks and question every train patron who goes through Union (because Union is within the fenced off area).

I also wonder how subway travel will be at Union station.

Anyone know more specifics?
