You wouldn't know it on an average day watching TV, but there is a very extensive and rich american culture. I would say that it is also on the wane to go along with a willful ignorance of all kinds of aspects of life and the world around them. But that's a generalization that doesn't take into account the great diversifying of the population there right now. Give them time and they'll look an awful lot like Canada, and with a richer culture to delve into than we'll ever have.
