Unhappy Damn We're Lucky... (Caution: Graphic Photos)

Lucky that we don't have to go through this...

GAZA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 462 Palestinians were killed and more than 2300 others injured during the past eight days in the ongoing Israeli military offensive on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, a senior Palestinian official said on Saturday.
Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services in the Palestinian health ministry, told reporters that the death tolls include 76 children and 38 women, and among the injured, 600of them are in critical conditions.
Hassanein announced the rising death toll after Israeli war fighters and tanks intensified on Saturday evening its airstrikes on different Hamas targets, killing at least 20 Palestinians and wounding at least 53 others.
Talking about the strikes on Saturday evening, Hassanein noted in details that 14 were killed in tanks shelling on a mosque in northern Gaza Strip, 4 were killed in an airstrike on Gaza-Egypt's border and the other two were killed in northern Gaza City.
Witnesses confirmed that Israeli tanks fired two shells at Ibrahim al-Maqadma Mosque, in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beith Lahia at the time of the Moslems' evening prayers.
They said that dozens of prayers were inside and outside the mosque when it was bombarded by two Israeli tanks shells, adding that at least 14 prayers were killed and around 50 wounded.
The Israeli army stations dozens of tanks on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, waiting for instructions to carry out a large-scale ground operation into the strip.
Palestinian residents in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah also confirmed that Israeli F16 warplanes struck the borderline between Gaza Strip and Egypt to destroy underground tunnels used for smuggling from Egypt into Gaza.
They said that four Palestinians were killed and three were injured in the air strike on the borderline between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
In Gaza City, witnesses said that Israeli F16 warplanes struck a house at Nasser neighborhood in northern Gaza City, killing at least two civilians, one of them is a 14-year-old child.
Saturday is the 8th day of an ongoing, unprecedented and intensive air offensive as Israeli warplanes hadn't stopped its warplanes' strikes on hundreds of targets all over the Gaza Strip. Airstrikes were round the clock.
Meanwhile, Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades said in separate leaflets sent to reporters that its militants fired dozens of long-range Russian-made and homemade rockets at southern Israeli towns of Ashdod and Ashkelon.
Israeli reports said that several rockets hit several Israeli towns, causing severe damages to several buildings, but no casualties among the Israelis were reported.

Yes, Hamas is a Palestinian organisation and a Palestinian political party, the majority of which is made up of Sunni Muslims.

i have my opinions on this matter which i'll keep to myself becuase im sure some israelis and possibly some palestinians might not like it.

I hate to see innocent people killed and thats the bottom line.

I'd llike to say the world HAS to make peace in the middle east but no one has balls big enough to do it...

theyd rather sit back and see innocent peace loving people from both sides killed...way to go world

A complicated history which I've tried to understand many times. It sucks that it leads to dispicable things like this.

Amen. I have my own opinions on the effed-up Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but I keep them to myself. The current situation is heartbreakingly awful and is not likely to be resolved anytime soon, unfortunately.

I have some opinions too. I'd love to share them but I'd rather not. I'll probably end up banning myself

Stupid, religious crap. I long for the day when humankind realizes it's too smart to engage itself in such idiotic endeavours.

Is it wrong that I'm a religious person though? It's not that religion is the problem. It's only an idea which one can choose to believe in or not to believe in. I'd argue that if it weren't religion it would be science or any thought which can be constued into an ideology.

The problem is when extremists take control of any idea and use it as a vehicle. Moderates in the world are far too quiet and allow things like this to occur. What's even worst is that it's the moderates who end up dying because of so few people and their ridiculous views.

Religion is, by its very nature, extreme. Not to mention ridiculous. And it's not just an idea. Look at the horrible suffering it has caused throughout the ages by means of entitlement and shame. If you truly looked at it with an open mind, you'd see how preposterous it all is. These backward, irrational ideas conjured up thousands of years ago by people who understood nothing. Ideas that seem silly even to little children (who, by the age of 10, know more about the world than the biblical authors did.) Whenever you have a group of people who feel that their way is the way or they've been specifically chosen by some otherworldly man in the sky, you're just asking for trouble.

I was reading about Scientology last night. This crackpot religious cult with its tales of celestial overpopulation problems, spaceships and a man named Xenu. There are hundreds of websites devoted to exposing its lunacy - and rightly so. I wish that same critical eye was used to expose Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. We just can't seem to let it go though because of the human need to have everything explained and our inherent fear of death. Fortunately, it's not as bad as it once was but it will take centuries for us to grow up and out of it.

The fact that an ideology can be dangerous as well, doesn't change or excuse any of that.

That is foolish. The world is different now than it was then, but I would like to understand how a 10 year old could understand household troubles such as money, adultery, family etc that the biblical author wrote about.

Other than that alot of what was said is true including what Claudius said.

I too consider myself religious, but the problem with all religions is the fact that things have been taken out of context and construed to fit certain parties' agendas.

For example with Christianity, the bible says that man is the head of the household, King James twisted that when having the original scrolls translated into english as being literal, "Males" are the head of the household, women obey your husbands. I take it as figurative; bills, TV, Children, Pets etc shouldnt have the run of the house, the adults should.

Most religions are very similar in nature, Jesus and God; Allah and mohammed; Do unto others, yin and yang.

Like Claudius said religion is fine, people need to have faith in something and it is natural to do so, but it is the blinding of self righteousness that brings about the conflict.
