Exclamation [CBC] G8/G20 Costs (80 mill on food, 17 mill on rentals)

CBC just published an article on some of the expenses of G8/G20.
They include:
  • 80 million for food
  • 17 million on transportation
  • $85,000 for snacks
  • $14,000 for glow sticks.
  • 2.2 million dollar bill for a one day of car rentals
  • $68,000 for Nikon cameras
  • $45,000 on binoculars
The RCMP used under 7 mill.

Considering how our pricetag was in the billions ($1.2) when other cities (like London) stayed in the millions (around 10 million pounds), what is your take on some of these expenses?
Has it changed your opinion on spending during G8/20?
Personally, I'm a little wary of the Conservatives right now. Frivolous government spending during a recession might be the deal breaker for me.

I've seen maybe one mosquito here all summer - it wasn't downtown either. And I wasn't aware that they were patrolling the fence in speedos and flip flops.

Those mosquitoes were dressed in black and setting fire to cop cars.

I don't think the spray worked.

oh - ok - just read it again - I saw it was for guys guarding the fence. I didn't realize there was a fence up there. I know a guy that worked it up there and it didn't sound like they needed a fence.

In any case - why does that need to be payed for with tax dollars? Did they get supplied with chapstick and sunglasses as well? Condoms for when they got their breaks? They did get paid pretty well didn't they?

This deserves a big facepalm but I just can't do it. Totally disgusted with overspending in gov't. Coming from Harper makes it worst. I guess this means I'll be voting Green Party next federal election

They do have a history of fiscal conservatism. They were my choice.

I'm being serious. I'm strongly considering green. However; I think I will have to do some volunteer campaigning to truly make a difference
