Gday Raptor Forum,

It looks like i will be moving to Brandon Manitoba for work for the next 6 to 12 months. Was wondering what your opinions are of the town and district and also what are the sights to see in this part of Canada.

Cheers

I've only been to Brandon a couple times just driving through. Like most typical small cities in Canada. Has its pros and cons. Pretty industrial city from what I remember, who love their junior hockey. University of Brandon have a pretty good men's basketball program too, so you might be able to catch some good basketball games their for cheap.

If you've never been to Canada before, you'll find it a shock probably from compared to Australia.

wow. Brandon, eh?

Like Doc said, i can only imagine that will be a pretty huge change from life in Australia. Especially in winter. My God man.... You're going to be in for a shock. Unfortunately i don't know anything about Brandon myself. If it's anything like smaller cities or towns in Ontario, then i am sure you will enjoy it for what it's worth. just don't go expecting the coolest nightclubs or anything like that (although i've been told Winnipeg has a pretty good Mod scene.... not that that is relavent.)

In any event, it should make for a memorable 6-12 months. Keep us updated.

Cold is an understatement when you compare Brandon to Australia. Get ready for -30 degrees. I've never been there so I don't know much about it.
Brandon Wheat Kings is probably the sporting draw in town.

What job brings you to Brandon?

My guess is that sizedog is from the male exotic dance group "The Thunder From Down Under" and they're performing shows in Brandon for the next 6 to 12 months.

Wow, Brandon.. well, I've driven though Brandon - it's a lot of flat land, like any small town in Ontario, especially in Northern Ontario - small closely knit commmunity, very cold in the winter with lots of snow. But in the summer, watch out - it's a haven for mosquitos.

Hahahaha, i dont think i have the moves.

bit of a change from where i am at the moment in terms of weather, was 45 degrees celcius 2 days ago. I have never even seen snow.

I am from a farming community and work at a machinery dealership so i have set up work in a farm machinery dealership in the Brandon area.

Weather alone, you might want to reconsider coming to Canada size.
