Anybody feel a big shake?

I just swayed back and forth an inch or so. Felt like a car coming to a quick stop, but I'm not in a car. And I'm not drunk. Anybody feel anything?

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!....my "duke" action figure just fell off my desk, while the DIR of HR was telling me it was "just my air conditioning"

Superjudge 08-23-2011 02:03 PM

maybe Shaq is in town and the big aristotle had a little shake after having a wee pee!

Aar_Canada 08-23-2011 02:04 PM

Very weird. My son was playing on the floor at my feet and I thought it had to do with that but weird things were moving like the shelf. Then I saw on CNN that it hit in Virginia - 5.8.

Superjudge 08-23-2011 02:05 PM

I'm terrified to hear what this did in the coal mines.... poor buggers.

Earthquake in Virginia - I felt it on Long Island (NY)

There was just a 5.8 earthquake in Virginia and it was felt throughout the east coast. I'm located on Long Island NY and I felt it pretty good... I thought there were roofers on my house or something. My dog even barked. Considering how much I felt it here I'm curious how bad it was in Virginia. Crazy

I may be corny but it was exciting lol

6cubed 08-23-2011 02:32 PM

HAHA i felt it A LOT... started another thread because I didn't see this one... My bad... sh!t was exciting. I thought people were trying to break into my front house by pulling the front door really hard (poor logic as how would that move the house) or that there were roofers on my house.

I'm located on Long Island, NY

Also, people in Virginia (Pentagon) assumed it was a huge explosion. Crazy paranoia

Superjudge 08-23-2011 02:34 PM

cool, m buddy is in long island.

6cubed 08-23-2011 02:41 PM

That's interesting that you guys felt it up north in Canada too.

For about 10 minutes immediately following the shake my cell phone wouldn't transmit any calls. Even now voicemail isn't working.

Never underestimate Mother Nature

Aar_Canada 08-23-2011 02:42 PM

As an aside, why is nature a mother?

Cuz if it was a father, the earthquakes would be worse and more frequent.

:)

Yep just finished. You might be onto something.

The only earthquake I've ever felt is the one that happened in Seattle around 2001. It was a 6.8 but down here it measured about 1. something.
