Hey Guys,

I've been reading this forum for a while now, so have decided to join.
First off let me say that I have sincerely enjoyed all of your posts. Even as the ominous and regrettably familiar rain clouds gather over Raptors Land, a wonderful fan base - perhaps one of the strongest in the league - has maintained an optimistic, and at most times, level headed outlook. I'm a proud Raps fan and will be to the day the franchise or i die.

I'm going to be honest, i first started coming to this forum as one would approach a support group. It is comforting and reassuring to know others share my pain. This is NOT just a game and it is NOT something i take lightly. Every loss and every pain this team has gone through so have I. My friends an co-workers have often told me I'm insane to support this team at times, especially this season. After some of the recent face-palming defeats this team has endured, just coming here and reading you fellas has kept me from totally losing my shit

I have been a Raps fan for about 6 years now, since i moved to this country from South Africa, but i've been playing ball since i was kid. I love everything about the game and can't get enough of it. I go through major withdrawl when the season ends...lol but i still love following off season activity and looking forward to game-day. I do not know everything about the game and will not pretend to. When it comes to NBA basketball one has to keep a very open mind and strong lateral thinking, even the GM's haven't got everything figured out, so it kind of presses my buttons when i hear know it all kids summing up the basketball universe and what the GM's/ coaches should be doing...the reality is a lot more complicated and the pressure is something most of us could ever dream of facing up to.

Ok this post is a lot longer than i anticipated. I just wanted to let ya'll know i appreciate all of your thoughts and heart.

GO RAPS GO!

Hey all,
Having grown up in Scotland, my basketball knowledge was non-existant and i never played either. Since moving to Canada about 9 years ago, i was at a loss as to what sports to watch as there is/was very little soccer on TV. I used to really dislike all the North American sports that people like over here. It took me a few years before i got into basketball, the thing that i liked most about it was that anyone could play. People playing were coming from all types of economic backgrounds, it really is like socer in that sense, no fancy protection or expensive equipment required.
Being in Canada the obvious team for me to follow was the Raptors, as i could watch most of their games on TV. I have now followed the Raps for over 5 years now and watched every game for the last 3 years. I thought i would start off the new year by registering on this forum, which i have been reading on and off for months/years. I love reading the pre-game reviews, which for the most part get me pumped for watching the game. Havent been able to stomach the post-games recently due to the.. well you all know why.
So i look forward to being an active member of the Raptor online community and throwing in my 2 cents when i see an opportunity.
Peace, happy new year and lets GO RAPTORS!

Archibald is a good international player but he just wasnt good enough to make it in the NBA. Although i would have loved to have the big Scotsman in the league, he was no more than a big body off the bench, i think he's playing in Spain now, or he was a few years ago.
Actually Claudius i am neither a Celtic or Rangers fan, i am actually a Partick Thistle fan. PTFC or the jags as they are commonly known are a smaller team in a lower division, that does not have the same religous ties as either of the 'old firm'. Rangers being a prodestant associated team and Celtic the catholic team. The jags are similar to the Raptors in that they are consistently underdogs and have never won a championship, hopefully that will change for both teams at some point in the not too distant future.
