woot! congrats gurkie. what does a g1 entitle you to? can you drive on your own, or will mom need to be in the front seat while you hang out with chicks in the back seat?

N64 02-02-2010 02:57 PM

haha good job gurk, still remember when I got mine, got a little scared cause a few of the older people taking their G1 tests before me were failing lol, but I aced it :D

8 months away from your G2

INSIDER 02-02-2010 03:37 PM

Windex 02-02-2010 03:38 PM

so a G1 = learners permit ?

'trane 02-02-2010 03:39 PM

we have a graduated licensing system here in ontario. it wasn't that way when i was a kid, so i don't iknow much about it, but the website says this:

Quote:

Level 1 of graduated licensing.
Holders may drive Class G vehicles when accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least four years of driving experience. Additional conditions apply.

I have a question trane cause I think my friends are bullshitting but can you drive on the highway with a G2 license on your own or would you need a G license for that? I've read through the site but it doesn't really say anything about that. A friend has his G2 and drives on the highway on his own all the time but my dad, who used to be a driving instructor in the early 90s said that you need the full G license to drive on your own on the highway.

'trane 02-02-2010 04:10 PM

no idea. when i was a kid it was just a 365 (learner's permit), and then a driving test, and then you were good to go anywhere and with anyone.

my guess is that highway driving is more restrictive, but i really have no idea.

G2 gives you the ability to drive on the highway. The only difference between the G2 and the G is the amount of alcohol you can have in your body, which is negligible and more or less irrelevant, and the fact that you can legally drive outside Ontario.

It's a blatant cash grab, it's horrible. It's $150 just to take your G after dropping $200 to do your G1 and G2.

Nites 02-02-2010 05:21 PM

Congrats, I'm getting my full license in March.

Snooch 02-02-2010 05:29 PM

youngsters.

congrats.

Now all you need is a car to call your own and abuse.

Dark Knight 02-02-2010 06:10 PM

Damn, its still 2 whole years until I can even get close to the drivers seat. :sigh:

Anywho...Congrats Gurk! Does this mean you can take me to the boob shows? :yeah:

Oh alright cool, so my friend was right lol and ya, the prices for taking the tests are pretty bs

guess I can drive myself to university next year then, If I go to UofT scarborough or York. :D

Febreezy 02-02-2010 08:12 PM

Congrats Gurk.
I was gonna go get mines today but stuff came up.

Gurk 02-02-2010 10:14 PM

Thanks guys. :dancing:

It was the easiest test I ever took in my life. I went to Orangeville to take it cuz I heard it was too much of a rush at Brampton. I only got 2 wrong on the rules section and got perfect on the signs. Yes people failed but I don't understand how they failed, it is pretty much all common sense. Now I gotta learn how to drive. When I get a G2, watch out world :p

Also, I remember how I was counting down the days till my birthday and how I said I was gonna skip school to write the G1. Didn't happen and I got lazy. Today was a day of before exams and I went. Glad I did :yeah:
