The issue is our offence in general, being built around one play, its relative versatility non-withstanding. Players like Novak thrive on the teams where there are players capable of causing defences to collapse in the paint. Orlando with Howard was such a team, and spot-up three-point shooters looked very good on that team. Miami, as currently constructed, is another example, where the collapse is caused by the wings like Wade and LeBron posting up or penetrating.
