Grizzlies Grizzlies draft 8yr old boy

The Memphis Grizzlies and the Mid-South chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation made eight-year-old Charvis Brewer's wish come true on Sunday, when he was "drafted" to become a sanctioned member of grit-and-grind basketball.

As Yahoo! Sports' Kelly Dwyer points out, Brewer, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is now the "youngest [drafted] player in the 67-year span of the league." So Charvis' wish not only came true, he made NBA history, too.

He also made his presence known on the practice court, critiquing Memphis' players while feverishly using a whistle provided by Zach Randolph.

For a basketball player, getting drafted is the ultimate wish. You grow up looking up to the guys in the league, and when you're given a chance to step on the court with them, it's the best feeling.

Just ask one Mid-South 8-year-old, whose wish was granted on Sunday by the Grizzlies.

"If they make a bad mistake, he'll call them out, you know," Charvis' dad, Michael Douglas, said, via Alexander. "He'll tell'em (sic) to get back and do right. Coach'll pull out the wrong person, he'll call him out and say ‘No, you took the wrong one out, put the right one back in.'"

We all know Grizzlies rookie head coach Dave Joerger needs all the help he can get. Marc Gasol has missed Memphis' last 16 games, and the Grizzlies rank in the bottom half of both offensive and defensive efficiency.

They're also 3.5 games below the Western Conference's final playoff spot.
