Fields isn't a good player either... he's an average player, probably in the same tier as Pietrus, James Johnson, Amir Johnson, Gary Neal, Matt Bonner, etc.... it's a hige tier, guys you do not want to overpay for. Not a bad illustration. If you look back to his rookie season, he's right in that mix. It's better not to overpay on a long-term deal (like Kapano). If Amir was signed to like 4 years 20 million, not too many people would have been talking about his contract. Although, Amir hasn't really digressed, that extra 1-2 million dollars per year makes him a little less attractive as a trading chip.
