Bargnani was a gamble, sure, but there are really only three players from that draft that I'd rather have:
Rondo is a non-starter because, for whatever reason, pretty much everyone passed on him. Aldridge was perceived as a Bosh
clone (and we still had Bosh), and Gay... well... now he appears to be a better all-around player than Bargs, but back then it wasn't so clear, to say the least.
We simply got "lucky" in one of the weakest draft years in recent memory.
