Coming from someone working in the mental health field, it is clear that one's upbringing and life experiences play a huge role in how he will be able to engage in recovery from anxiety. Given that he never missed practices in college, it is evident that having the responsibility of being an NBA player has worsened his symptoms, and he needs to find some new ways to tolerate these stressors, find effective medicine and treatment. Having worked with various people with anxiety disorders, people often persevere, and recover. It is a matter of having a good support network and effective treatment. That being said, every situation is different and I wish this guy best of luck in this process. Hopefully, he can overcome both the physical and emotional symptoms that come from experiencing anxiety. I can't imagine trying to be a professional athlete and suffering panic attacks prior to games and practice.
