In this game, it was actually unwarranted. Here is why:
1 - Many of his shots were in the rhythym of the offense.
2- He didn't really take 22 shots, as in 22 seperate possessions. See, on 3 seperate occasions, he had MULTIPLE offensive rebounds. On two possession, he missed 3 straight shots in the paint and kept the ball alive, only to have Chandler follow and finish the play.
It's more like 20 points on 15 shots, when you take out those hot potato rebound possessions.
A person with solid observational skills will know what I was talking about in point #2. It's painfully hard to miss, given how Jeff Van Gundy blew his load praising Melo for keeping the ball alive and "leading by example".
If he was really chucking, they likely wouldn't be up by 10 over the heat. They were good shots and extra possession.
