Colangelo passed on a trade to land Iguodala

Wonder wtf they wanted?

According to Colangelo the #Raptors passed on potential opportunity to trade for Andre Iguodala. Said it wasn't the right fit/too big a risk

Bryan Colangelo: “We’ve got means to make a big deal if the right deal presents itself and we passed on a few deals this summer" #Raptors

Colangelo: "A guy named Andre Iguodala, had a chance to jump in there but it wasn't the right fit for our team..." (cont) #Raptors

BC on Iggy: (Cont) "given the circumstances and the pieces that needed to go in and out... It was too much risk" #Raptors

Also, here's an interview he did on TSN radio this morning and a recap via RealGm poster:

Briefly speaks about Ed Stefanski, happy to have him as part of the team, and his experience. Brings up Coach Casey, and the importance of bringing in a different culture, taking basically the same roster from two years ago, and changing the defensive culture and overall team atmosphere virtually overnight.

On Valanciunas: Impressive young man. Spoke with him about his arrival in Toronto (coming next week) He's very smart and matter-of-fact, but has a lot of energy. Shy at first, but will surprise people. Lithuania's Olympic team used him in the way they best thought would help them win right now. Sabonnis says he's the future of Lithuanian basketball.

BC was disappointed with JV's limited Olympic role, but still with limited minutes, showed an understanding of the game, and an ability to change the pace of the game. He came out, played hard, blocked shots, etc. Wants to temper NBA expectations so he learns to play the right way, the nuances (foul trouble, etc.) but they love everything about him.

On Terrence Ross: Athletic versatile wing, great effort being given in practice with DeRozan, going back and forth with each other. A lot of expectations too, but he's excited. Going to be a good two-way player with add to the versatility on the floor

On Calderon: Not going to decide who starts, but says Lowry will make it tough on Casey to not start him. Jose is very professional, a great person, and if he stays, will benefit the team one way or another. Thinks he'll understand if he has to be a backup and will do his best within that capacity.

On Lowry: Brings grittiness and toughness, and that represents the direction we're heading, and the future of the PG position for the Raptors

On Bargnani: Thinks Casey brought out the most of him, has versatility, and is coming into his own as a big in the league. Wanted to get healthy so avoided Italian team commitments.

Lots of competition within the team across the board. It's a young, developing team. Maybe failed to make the sexy move this offseason, but thinks they eventually made the right moves, the right way. Being patient. Had chances to make some deals, and might make a few more (mentions Jose) Had means to make a big deal, (mentioned Iguodala specifically) but thought it was too great a risk (us sending out young assets and future assets, and AI's contract terms). Might still make a deal, but has to be the right move for now and the future.
