RF Fantasy NBA Draft 2012 Edition
What's up guys? As some of you guys may remember, we had a little RF Fantasy League during the lockout that consisted of 16 members/teams (myself included). Unfortunately, we weren't able to finish the tourney. Hopefully this year it's different. We drafted players to see who could make the best team (NOT based on stats). It was based on how players fit together and would produce on the court. After the draft, we would have head-to-head matchups where people on the forum can vote for who they think would win in a playoff series between the given teams. The two members going head-to-head would submit write-ups on their team strategies which are to be considered by the voter.
If anyone is not familiar with the it, I can go into further detail. We will have 12 rounds with (hopefully) 12-16 members. I think the snake-style draft order is best, but I'm open to suggestions. Again, if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.
If you are interested in joining, you should be an active member so that they pace of this thing isn't too slow. I think we went with a 24 hour limit for drafting players and a 48 hour limit for members to submit their write-ups (optional) for head-to-head matchups.
As for drafting injured players (like Oden), this excerpt is from last year:
Regarding injuries, we are not just ignoring injuries altogether. Players should be considered as healthy but with reasonable expectations for this year. This league is based on what the players could be reasonably expected to produce the next season when they are playing.
Example: "When it comes to Brandon Roy, nobody expects him to produce at a rate better than he did last year, which was NOT impressive. He was quite mediocre last year. I think one would expect him to stay the same. There is no reason to expect him to get back to his old form, since his knees just keep getting worse, not better.
On the other hand, although Bynum has a history of injuries, he always bounces back and produces. As long as he is in the lineup, he contributes quite nicely. There is a difference between players like Roy and Bynum."
If you are interested in joining, please let me know so I can add you to the list. Thanks.
