BC up first
-lots of activity leading up to the draft
-Zubcic is not here today
-reiterate enthusiasm for both men
-growing organization and building in different, but looking for pieces that "fit" with Casey
-culture shift, accountability
-two hard working, high character men that have good basketball skills
-ask Casey to say a few words on how they fit in
-both men will bring a lot into how we shape this team
-both men, high-motor
-Terrence runs, shoot, and competed as much as anybody we brought in
Quincy, talking on defense, lead the workout and all of the things you want to see
-both guys have nba skills that will translate into the game TR- shooting Acy - intensity/energy
-In workouts, a lot of players said that T Ross was the hardest guy they went up against
What can we expect from you?
We're athletic, playing with DeMar will help with the athleticism. What do you want to accomplish over the summer? Get stronger. Not playing against kids - adults, getting your body right
Mentioned Reggie Evans... tell us about your style?
Love to compete, we're in Canada so make it like a hockey player. Make sure I go hard in every practice, drill, game
talked to Haislip about TO? Came here last summer, city is nice, great people
expectation for rookie years?
Acy - always worked for what I've got
Ross - same, work hard, put in the time and work, and will continue that, used to hard work
what made you what you are?
Ross - work ethic. Mom instilled that in me. "all I've been around, working hard"
Acy - same thing...growing up in a single parent household, mom always worked hard.
Ross - always had a basketball in hand, fisher price hoop. mom always said I had a jumpshot. played mom 1 on 1. mom would always beat me til grade 7/8
father won a dunk contest? Yeah, won a couple of them.
Bryan - how did you find Terrence, how long have you been following him?
Eversly - told Casey to go to a Washington practice. Watch a few players. was my attention grabber right there. Had been seen a lot by the staff. Numerous games. Same with Quincy. Always a couple names at the tail end of our interviews. Terrence was always listed there. Harkless too. 7 names on the board before Terrence... selected him at 8. Although he was surprised, we weren't. close relationship with his agents. tried to hide that they wanted to pick him so the news didn't "blow up".
Runs the floor, run lanes. Want to be more athletic this year. Defensive minded team, coach, and want to take advantage. Both had some of the quickest times in Chicago - lateral movement, high jumps, a lot of things that make Terrence the right pick at 8 and Qunicy a good pick at 36th
what made them the right picks?
Casey - quick transition from offense to defence. foot quickness is off of the charts. both men possess something that's important to us - quick starters and high motors
What is it that's surprising about your games?
Acy - jumpshot, but won't be out there for that (that's what Ross is for)
let me clear one thing up "It's Reggie Evans with a jumpshot"
"ability to play defense"
Ross and DeMar work together well on both ends of the floor?
Casey - definitely, they're "basketball players", interchangeable, DeMar is getting bigger (looking more like a PF - joking). Both are wing players, no competition between them. Will work well when we want to speed the game up
What do you know about DeMar?
Ross - freak athlete, some of the things he does are unbelievable. Things they'll complement each other well
Your workout here?
Ross - workout went well, tried to dominate in every aspect. said they liked me. couldn't tell what they were thinking. see what happens. blessing when they called me at 8
Qunicy - Evans comparisons? Can you finish?
That may be what I do best - catch it and dunk it
Casey - skill level is much higher. Earn rep playing hard, etc, will do that, playing hard
What about being in the stands at the draft?
Acy - wasn't a long time for me. Wasn't expecting to be picked that high. dream come true - always play with a chip on my shoulder - chip now - feed my son
Quincy - #4?
played on the same AAU team, made all the good players wear #4,
Ross - # 31
