not sure what the big deal is, only two type of fans watch bball on tv, home team fans and superstar groupies. Let's face it, other than hardcore fans, who would bother to watch grizzlies vs portland on national tv? Sure, they're two good teams and it will probably be a nice game. But I'd rather watch miami take on milwaukee and hope they lose again ...

we didn't have a super popular player since Carter left, we have no home team fans in the states and, to top it all, we sucked pretty much every season.

to fix this, we'd have to be:

1. really, really good (like 60+ wins, and that may not cut it - look at how unpopular SA is in the states)
2. have a really, really popular player (griffin and the likes)

short on that, it ain't happening.

however, the better question is, who cares? What difference does it make whether we are or not, it's not like FAs will base their decision on something like that.
