I'm not talking about a Kobe/Dirk/MJ who will suddenly appear and be traded to the Raps, but a solid, offense-oriented SG/SF who can do well in an iso situation and hit a clutch shot - Steph Curry, Kevin Martin, Danny Granger, Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson. We have serious problems scoring from the wing position, and these guys will help. With better team D, their defensive problems will be hidden enough that we can have a good, competitive team with the guy who can take over games when needed.

Do we basically stay still and hope Valanciunas and our draft pick next season have immediate impacts......and what "game changers will come here if they don't become those impactful type players quickly? The draft is a crap shoot and if it doesn't pan out as planned who do you think we're getting?
Well, if both Val and this year's pick are busts, we're screwed - no doubt about that. It would mean that the two years of rebuilding had gone to waste and the end of BC's tenure here, so it's hard to predict what happens then. But it seems unlikely that BC (who has a good draft record) will miss twice with two high picks. That they both become superstars is also far fetched. But if one/both can be solid staring-caliber role players, we'll have a decent squad on our hands that will be that one key player away from being a top team in the East, and this is what I'm assuming will happen when I talk about the future.

When re-building you need to improve gradually, aquire young talent, aquire assets some of which can be flipped down the road to continue to add talent and that's maybe when you get a game changer.

IMO Valanciunas (20yrs old), Bargnani (26yrs old), Chandler (25yrs old), Derozan (22yrs old), JJ (26yrs old), Amir (23yrs old), Davis (22yrs old) + MKG, Barnes, Lamb????? that is an impressive core of young players and we'd still have some capspace the next couple seasons.
You're right about acquiring assets and potentially flipping them down the road, and Chandler is great for that - but, again, at what price? It's unsustainable to overpay for good (but not great) players and expect that we'll somehow land a star outside the draft, either.

And IMO, that core of young players looks only a little less bright without Chandler, especially when we have Kleiza who can potentially provide some of the same services (namely, scoring).
