Noone disputes the fact that Chandler is a good basketball player. The question is whether he is a significant enough upgrade over the players we currently have manning his position (JJ and Kleiza), considering the salary that he is likely to demand.
If our brass really likes him so much then the following has to happen, IMO:
1. Kleiza must be dealt, hopefully as part of whatever deal they'd swing for Chandler. Otherwise, too much money is going to be tied up at 3 and considering that in this coming draft the BAP at our position could also be a natural NBA SF like Barnes, the situation would only get worse.
2. Something would have to be done about the shooting guard position as we won't be able to sign either a starter to replace DeRozan or a capable backup to replace the departing Barbosa if the money is spent on Chandler. Considering how inconsistent DD has been this season, that would be a problem. That's why, if I were running the team, I wouldn't do anything with SF position at least until the draft, because unless we draft Lamb, SG becomes our position of weakness this summer.
