That said, we do at times worship the past a bit too much. Carter
was an impact guy, he held the league but its nuts for four years.... did he win? Nope, he was on a pretty bad team. Magic Johnson came into the league and was on a pretty damn good team.
Sometimes timing and luck create legacy so you have to be fair, Carter
has some pretty serious basketball accomplishments, just didn't win. He played on a couple almost Nets teams that were steamrolled close to the end by Shaq and Wade. He had a nice year after that averaging 20 5 and 5. something only guys like Kobe have done. To be honest, I have no problems with him in the Hall, the NBA is a professional entertainment company, and to be honest, he entertained like mad!
And his reward was earning over $100M (in contracts and endorsements) over his career.
The Hall should be reserved for those players who entertained AND worked their asses off to be the best players that they could be IMO.
