He for sure was a victim of racial profiling. Dude has been great at every level he's played at, no scholarship, not draft. Panda posted the knowledge.
He definitely is a source of pride for Asian-Americans, as he should be.
Is it a surprise that an ASIAN GUARD can do what he's doing...it shouldn't be.
Dude played american high school ball, american college ball, american kiddie ball. Dude played John Wall, and competed against other American hopefuls growing up.
It shouldn't be surprising to anybody that he's asian, but yes, asian kids should buy his jersey.
I think it would be more significant if a Chinese guard did the same thing, having to go up the ranks through a basketball system far less mature than the one in the USA, and somehow becoming a world class guard. I'm not so sure of that anymore though with the way great basketball kids get picked out at young ages and play around the world and all have american coaches.
The point is, with Jeremy Lin the hype has much to do about the colour of his skin. That is slightly absurd.
On another note, Lin vs Wall....should be fun. You can bet that Wall remembers the summer league game.
