I'll admit that, when the media was speculating about the shortlist for interviews for the job, I was high on the Raps hiring Maurice Cheeks. I don't remember being too enthusiastic about Casey. I have no complaints though. He does not have a lot to work with.
Most nights, the Raps have played hard. It's a whacky schedule, so no matter who is/was coaching the Raps this season, there would be a couple of sloppy nights. I love what I've seen when Bargnani
is in the lineup. When Bargs
is in there, the Raps are a team challenging for the playoffs. I can't justify expecting more than that, given the roster. Too bad Bargnani
hasn't been healthy the whole time so that we could see if the team could stay .500 for a larger sample. If Bargnani
plays 45 games this season, and the Raps win 21+ of those 45 games, that would be a really good sign that Casey is probably a keeper.
