I could be wrong, but I think he was implying that the Celtics players would police him better. When you have a couple of vets, with proven track records, telling you to "calm down and STFU", it's harder for you to create problems for the coach. And when the coach is one of the most respected in the league, as is Doc Rivers, it makes it even more difficult for minor things to blow up. On a couple of occasions, in the past, Rondo has become angry and ignored the huddle during timeouts, which could have blown into something big, but the Celts always manage to keep shit under control, at least long term (beyond a single game).
