If it's a Clippers trade, I'd wait for midseason. There will still be a trade deadline in February-March, right?
Then you see how all the Clippers are developing, and you also see if that Wolves pick is likely top 3, or it's more like 8-10. That pick could not exist at all btw --- if it's no.11 or lower, it goes to the Celtics.
That way you don't risk as much.
Also, I'd be very interested to see how DeAndre progresses. If he's doing well, then ask for him too, in exchange for Emeka Okafor. Long term money - similar, short term - savings for Hornets. And they get younger.
You can't trade for him now, but midseason - sure; unless the rules have changed?
Also, ask for Clips own pick. If you delay the trade till midseason, it may be a pretty decent pick.

Hornets get young, get great picks, save ~20 mil. You can even make this in a way where Hornets get a trade exception too, at ~ 7 mil.
Clippers get a Griffin-CP3-Gordon core with great veteran role players.
Keep Mo Williams as a 6th man, or trade him for a better SF. That's an awesome team.
