And for those who say - don't tank, how did all the good, young teams like Portland, OKC, Memphis and Chicago acquire assets and become competitive teams? By overpaying for a free agent when they were still devoid of talent or by building through the draft and once they began to gel by adding pieces through trades and signings?
OKC, POR and CHI got very lucky IMO. They each had the opportunity to draft a hell of a player who could come in and contribute immediately. Durant, Roy and Rose were all-stars within what? 2 years?
Unfortunately, not every team has that kind of luck.
Besides... isn't this coming draft class very PF-heavy?
