He would have to be extended prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. So we'd have to decide if he is worth this amount after either this shortened season or with only the info we have now.
No way he signs for less than 4 years. Would he sign for Bargs
money? Would we go above that if we won't? All very good questions.
So far, he hasn't earned a contract above what Bargs
is getting.... but I think if we could get him on a similar deal we'd be better for it in the long run. Paying him max money before he's earned it would be treating him like we do every superstar or faux-star we've ever had.
5 guys making 10M is a better approach for this market until we've established a winning culture that attracts FA's.
