for me, no way a max deal, can't do surely? a 3 year deal (are bird years renewed on each new contract, or would the fact that it's the same team mean a continuation of that?) at around bargs' money?
Based on the previous CBA and what we know of the latest offer, the most we can offer DD starts at 25% of 58 million and stretches over 5 years (including his final year of his rookie salary) - as the designated rookie extension player - with 6.5% raises. So that amounts to:

2011-12: $2,625,000
2012-13: $3,344,250
2013-14: $13,603,750
2014-15: $14,487,994
2015-16: $15,372,238
2016-17: $16,256,482

He would have to be extended prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. So we'd have to decide if he is worth this amount after either this shortened season or with only the info we have now.

No way he signs for less than 4 years. Would he sign for Bargs money? Would we go above that if we won't? All very good questions.
