Oh, Bayless. Here's the thing. I was freaking impressed by his individual game. He put up good stats, he could score at will, he held his own on defense, as much as anyone can in Triano's system, he's got a competitive fire in him. All great.
But he just somehow hurt the team every time he stepped on the floor. Sure, sometimes he'd spark a run, but he'd have to put the offense on his back to do it, and more often than not that just ended up taking his teammates out of the game. The offense just dies when he is running the team. When you have a league worst defense, that offense has to run like a well oiled machine.
So, he has the talent to score, and even made a decent number of assists in his few starts, but with his overall impact and meh defense, I've got to go with a C. He did better in some aspects than I expected him to, but worse in others. Still, will be very interested to see what he can do next year - hopefully that stretch of games starting at the end of the year will help him figure it out consistently.
