His mentality has never been good enough. He has taken all kinds of coaching, including some work with Moses Malone, and just chosen to ignore most of it most of the time. It was just a few months ago that he brushed off suggestions that he needed to get better at anything, since he had somehow established himself as a scorer, which was such a complicated aspect.
Now let's look at Dirk. He noticed early on, that like with Bargnani, the NBA game was too fast for what he had been able to do. He admitted that and then put in the work to rectify the problem, to the point where a coach like Avery Johnson had to try to limit his access to gyms so that he wouldn't wear himself out. Andrea? Well he has come up with excuses. He needs to play his natural position. They don't call the game rebound. He needs to get more minutes. He needs to be able to make mistakes. If we're going to see another coach saddled with that sort of BS, then it's a damn shame, especially if it's under the delusion that Andrea in any way can amount to what Dirk is as a player.
