Sometimes ankle sprains take more than a year to fully heal and when you aggravate it, it only extends the recovery time. Always follow the RICE procedure: rest, ice, compress, elevate. Buy an ankle brace as it is really helpful in preventing further injury when playing basketball again. Hope this helps.
