High Ankle Sprain Advice
I really sprained my ankle badly on Apr 30 by landing on one of my friends feet when going up for a layup, I came down on it and it twisted hard and I was screaming in pain for a good 10 minutes. I couldnt put any pressure on it for about 5 days, and then of course when I felt like I could possibly go on it I did and it went back to feeling terrible again. I scheduled an appt tomorrow with my family doctor to get more advice and get an MRI, as I went to a couple clinics and got an x ray and it came back as negative.
Anyways, I've received differing advice on how I should get it better(besides rest).
One opinion is to wrap it tight with the long bandage so it stays in a near set position, and then icing it for 10-20 minutes every hour or two, then re wrapping it.
The other is to put my foot in hot water(the swelling is gone now).
Which is the correct choice?
And/or is there another way you recommend in getting it better quicker? Or steps I should take daily to get it better?
It's killing me not being able to play multiple times a week. Help please.
