Yeah, "considerable drop off" was harsh. But losing out on a top 3 selection and one of those aforementioned "gems" was promoted as a kick in the nads, IIRC. Bosh
was a smooth but fragile freshman, Wade hadn't developed much of a jumper despite being a junior, which was ancient during a time where scouts had major hard-ons for High schoolers and international projects. I think Kaman's stock rose late, playing at a small school, and Ford was a midget before the little man, other than Iverson, ruled the league. But yes, I was young and didn't follow as fervently. Point being, while this class is seemingly historically weak, even great classes had their fair share of question marks.
