Yeah, i get that. also, you can really see that Canada has pretty much no way to train and develope basketball players to that "next level" so to speak. Any Canadian basketball player who becomes any good will have to go through the American college system.

I think in general, outside of hockey, Canadian organized sport is kinda lacking - as the olympics taught us.

When i was recently in austria, i saw many of these caged in sports areas. at first glance, you would think they were basketball courts, but instead they were concrete soccer "cages". Maybe some of them had basketball nets. i didn't really pay too much attention.
