No basketball in Italy.
Hello old friends. Im in Italy right now, just outside the town of Lucca. And i have yet to see a basketball net. Asked a handfull of local residents when I was in Rome, and everyone replied that their is no basketball courts. They all knew of basketball, but did not know where their was a basketball net, int he biggest city in Italy. The only court I've seen is in a town called Positano, and it's missing the hoops themselves. The keys are painted on the court, but thats it. Not to mention the 3 foot high weeds growing through cracks. I saw a kid wearing Miami heat shorts, but he couldn't speak english and help me out.
So why is a country like Italy better than Canada at basketball when it is relatively easy to find outdoor courts in any Canadian city? Is our coaching that bad? Our players that bad? Maybe I just can't find the basketball in Italy..?
