Andre Agassi won 3 Grand Slams, and was the runner up at 2 Slams at and after the age of 30. He is truly one of the greatest players of all time.
Jimmy Connors won 3 Grand Slams and was runner up at 1 Slam at and after the age of 30.
Neither of them had the crazy win streak going like R-Fed did (no one does, really), but they were still winning when they were in their 30s.
Federer will come back next year (and this is coming from a lukewarm Federer fan). To write him off is ludicrous. For the man to get to the finals of 2 Grand Slams while he is ill just shows what a truly phenominal player he is.
