So defense is the criticism? I don't get that, because if anything his offense has suffered a little due to him focusing more on defense and playing pretty damn well. if he were to bring the same defensive intensity off the bench I'd have no problem keeping him as long as possible.
I think the guy is getting pigeonholed a little by some of you guys that can't recognize that his game has developed, that he's putting in the work, and that he's arguably the best player on a very green team. coughJeffcough.
Having a reliable backup at this position is absolutely invaluable. Having a guy with a lot of experience on a young team is invaluable. Having a kid that ends up clearly head and shoulders above him, but still able to learn from him, would be a great situation, as long as he is able to accept it, and I think he likely would. He'd finally have a role that suits him perfectly.
