Stojakovic still recovering from sore knee

Peja Stojakovic, the newest member of the Mavericks, likely won't play in Thursday's home game against the Houston Rockets.
Stojakovic performed some light workouts and shooting drills with the Mavs this morning, but his sore left knee and his conditioning are not where they need to be.
"We're going to go day-to-day with him," coach Rick Carlisle said. "He's making gradual progress.
"He's doing a little more each day. But if he'll play tomorrow? It's very doubtful."
The Mavs signed Stojakovic, 33, on Monday after the Toronto Raptors bought him out of his contract last week.
"We all know what he did in this league -- he's one of the best shooters ever," forward Dirk Nowitzki said. "He's definitely one of the best shooters in this league and he's going to spread the floor for us.
"I just think he has to work himself back into it a little bit. When he's healthy he's definitely one of the best shooters in the world.
"I just shot with him and he beat me every single time."
But it's the rest of Stojakovic's game -- and especially his health -- that needs to be fine-tuned.
"It's not only the stroke," Nowitzki said. "I think in the game the hardest thing when you're out for a while -- I'm going through it now -- is the up and down, the explosiveness, the defensive stance, the moving."
Either way, the Mavs will be patient with Stojakovic.
"We just want to make sure there's no flare-ups with the knee issues," Carlisle said. "So far the signs are very good.
"He's going to make progress pretty quickly, I believe. But we've just got to make sure that we're going at the right pace."
