NBA.com: Mid season report card

When you fail to make the playoffs and then lose your best player in the offseason, expectations are not going to be high. And the Raptors are playing at about the level we expected them to. They just don't have the talent or experience to consistently compete with the best teams in the league.
There has been a 6-2 stretch around Thanksgiving and a few wins over quality teams. The Toronto offense has been better than average thanks to balance (six players averaging double figures) and attacking the basket (third in points in the paint per game).
But at some point, whether you have the talent or not, you have to take some pride in the way you defend. The Raptors have enough length and athleticism, but not the desire or mechanics, to be a good defensive team. And when you rank in the bottom three of the league in defensive efficiency, you can't make the argument that you're making the most of the talent you have.
