The West is a term I've begun to hate because of it's vagueness. I would tend to agree on some level, that the majority of the G8 countries have some selfish attitudes. However, evidence does exist that these same countries also do ALOT of good and respect the values of other citizens as well (globalization demands it) but many times it is very much ignored by popular outlets.

The big difference between here and there however is that here for instance I can hold my own opinion, argue it in public etc. There, it's one big company line.

Again we basically agree. Its obvious that the freedom we have in our countries wont be reached in countries like China for a long time. But I think the way our economies and theirs treats the world is equally bad and ours probably has damaged even more. They consume their workers to death. We consume our workers a lot, and consume the rest of the world to death.
