I see us as quite similar to the 08-09 Sonics, minus Durant but with a veteran PG in Jack, and better O off the bench. Maybe not the same defensively, but more complete offensively.

DeRozan holds the key for us this season. Last year he averaged 8.6 ppg. For reference, Kobe averaged 7.6ppg and TMac 7.0 ppg in their rookie seasons. Both those guys came straight from highschool, however.

I know he's not in the same league as Kobe and TMac, but if DeMar can make a similar leap to ~15ppg+ next year like those guys did in year 2 and 3, respectively, we'll have reason for optimism in Raptor town again.
I try to avoid making predictions, but I think a jump like that is quite feasible, and I'll be disappointed if it doesn't happen. Never mind the fact that DeRozan has improved his handles and jumpshot, last year he was the 5th option on a team run by PGs who were reluctant to even give the ball up to the 2nd option.

Depending on who we acquire for Jose/TPE (if anyone) DD could possibly be the 2nd/3rd option in the starting lineup. Not that I think he's ready, but the makeup of the roster necessitates it.
