I know this sounds juvenile, DK, but when I was in grade 4, I did a science project about a solar water purifier. You superglue a cup into the middle of a bowl. Then you pour water into the bowl but not into the cup. You saran wrap the top of the bowl and then you get a high watt lamp to shine its light hovering over the bowl. Not too close though because you don't want to melt the plastic wrap. You put a small weight on top of the saran wrap, in the middle, so it's over the cup. Make sure that it doesn't weigh down the plastic wrap though. The water will heat up, evapourate and the weight on top of the plastic wrap will guide the droplets into the cup. And presto! Clean water.
Ya I did water purification using Coal as the purifier. Got me an A and its really in tune to the Green movement of today. Although they problably have more sophisticated green projects nowadays
