But where are you getting this number from jeff? Am i missing some sort sort article where this number was brought up? To sign delfino or AP, that would have to be 3 million dollars annually. That means he'd be giving up 6 million dollars from his remaining 9 million( or something to that effect), which is unheard of.
When you buy out a player, the buyout amount is divided over the number of years remaining on the guys contract and still counts against the cap. You get almost no cap relief when a player like banks is bought out.
